Transport from Doncaster to Maidstone

I need to transport my colt from his breeder near Doncaster to my yard near Maidstone. Really don't fancy the 8 hr round trip myself so looking for a transporter to do it. But the quotes I've had so far are all exceeding £500! Doesn't that sound a bit expensive to you? I know fuel is expensive, but still! Any ideas of anyone to try?
 
It does sound Alittle expensive I exported my 2 friesian from holland to sittingbourne for £600 for the pair have u tried pink horse transporters my friend drives there box don't know how much they charge tho they are Medway area
 
Might be worth trying Eric Gillie as he is aparantly up and down from scotland to kent all the time. You may be able to get a shared load which could save you a bit of money. Failing that my friend got her horse back using equine express who were the cheapest she could find and they were very good.
 
That does sound really expensive. You should be able to find a shared load on one of the transporters. Doncaster Racecourse has bloodstock sales every week I think (I grew up in Doncaster!!) and then the horses are transported all over the uk in shared transport - there are often spaces.

I bought my horse from coventry and he was brought down to London in a shared load that came from Doncaster. It cost me £100!! (That was 3 yrd ago, but it can't have changed that much)

Look on some racehorse websites perhaps.
