Does anyone have any recommendations? IF said horse passes the vet.

I used Greenvale 4 years ago, my mare arrived very calm and chilled but super super tucked up (compared to the photo sent to me the day she left) which made me question how much hay she was given.

I’ve contacted Equitrans but they take a longggg time to reply (it says to WhatsApp, is it best to call?!)

Thanks in advance x

I have also used Greenvale recently to bring my horse from Ireland to the UK he seemed fine and didn't look any different from when he set off but he is a bit overweight so that could be why. No issues with them that I could tell.

Gillies were great for me a few years back, very responsive, lots of updates and extremely reasonable price. I've heard not such great things re. Equitrans.

Thank you. I asked if Gillies could provide me a quote yesterday, haven’t heard anything. Will give them another call

I've always found Gillies very expensive
A friend used Equitrans earlier in the year. Couldn't fault them. She WhatsApped them and had a very efficient service.

I found a lot of good reviews on Equitrans if I’m honest, I did ask for a quote but they take a good 24 hours to come back to me on WhatsApp. Unless they’re just so busy. I’ll ring them.

I've had a good service from Equitrans, I rang them for more information when he was on his way and he was happy to chat. Horse arrived in perfect condition and they even had a sense of humour at 4 in the morning.

I have recently used Equitrans. Also previously used Mullins many times.
Would use both again. Equitrans prefer to communicate via Whatsapp and he can be a bit blunt but I was happy with the service.

I wouldn’t personally use Mullins again. No sign of any hay on the lorry. Mine was the last off after a very long day and walked off looking pretty poor, although I accept that long journeys are pretty stressful for youngsters so that will have contributed. I also didn’t find them great in terms of communication. I had no updates on how he was over the 48+ hrs they had him. I’d use a smaller more personal firm if I bought from Ireland again. I had also asked about small lorry transport as access to my yard is restricted, but they didn’t respond or tell me anything at all, and rocked up in a massive lorry so had to unload on a main road on a blind bend.

Thank you for sharing. I looked back at my emails from when I needed my mare bringing over in 2021 and Mullins quoted £800 inc. vat. You’d expect better when paying that kind of money!

Communication wise that’s how it was with John Parker international transport. The driver did communicate well and he arrived decently but he travels great to start with and had a long trip from the US to the UK so I was keeping my expectations to him being alive and walking. Communication office side was awful. Called 3 times over 2 days trying to find out if they had even picked my horse up to find he had made it to their facility. No one let me know when he would be picked up, that he had been or when he arrived to their barn. I was given the run around on when he would make his way to me. The only person who actually gave me any updates was the driver once he had the route. Maybe for large showings barns they’re good but the every day person? It was not a good experience
