I am looking to buy a 15.3h mare from scotland but unfortunately I live in Kent. Does any one have any recommendations for people to transport preferably on a shared load for this journey ?
Gillies are supposed to be really good.I'm not sure if they do shared loads though.I know a friend moved her horse from Kent to Glos and used John Parker on a shared load and he only charged her £150 to do so.
I looked at Gilles when transporting my horse from Cumbria to Gloucestershire. They quoted me over £700 for a shared lorry! Crazy money.
I ended up going with Holme Equestrian who charged me about £300, had the lorry to ourselves and it was all air conditioned and really nice, cant fault them.
Ditto gillies. Know a couple of people who have used them and they were brilliant. They always do shared loads as they travel constantly up and down the country, picking up horses along the way as required. They do a lot of racehorse transporting.
My friend recently had her TB transported from york to edinburgh and it cost just under #300. Money well spent.
deffinately erik gillies he transported taz from ireland and he was great he kept me posted when things went wrong due to the weather and things and if he had to take a break due to time and taz arrived as if he hadnt travelled from cavan sales happy little three year old back then
I'd also highly recommend Gordon Hamilton, transported two little ponies from Herefordshire to Scotland, he was lovely with them and they travelled really well. I know several other people who've used him with equally positive results.
I moved my mare from Newmarket to Perth (scotland!!) with Gillies cost around 200 shared they have cctv in the boxes have a overnight stop. She is a madam to load but they were great with her didnt leave there patience with her or anything
