Transport to Demark. Who? And how much?

Well, as the tittle really. I have a dartmoor pony and have yet another interested viewer from abroad. The woman is asking how much for transport to Denmark as in her words, he is a very fine pony. I would say he was a pretty cheap pony, lol! Anyway, I have previously googled his dad to and found that alot of his stock are abroad so it seems genuine that they like them out there.

I transported my horse from Holland but I used a dutch company so was wondering if anyone knew of any hauliers that go out to Denamrk and how much roughly it would cost to put him on a load. I am based in Devon if that makes any difference.

Well, had a reply from one comepany and they wanted £900 plus VAT, that seems like alot of money to me on a shared load. I got my horse back from Holland for £280 and Denmark is less than double that distance. Hmm!
 
theres a fair amount of paper work to be done aswell as a health check before the pony gets on the lorry.

i Sold a horse to italy and trying to get the correct licences etc when you dont have a clue (and was told the lorry was in the uk on its way then being told the vet needed to do health check was in wales:eek:) was not an enjoyable experiance.
 
Well, I paid over £700 for transport from Germany, and Denmark is a little further than that...

You were lucky only paying £280...

Also, the Pound is much weaker these days.
 
Well, i still think I would have to get the health check and paper work done even though they did said they would help me to do it. I contacted a company from Denmark thinking this was the cheapest way!!

Wow! £700 to Germany, I was expecting it to be that price to Denmark in honesty. Maybe I was lucky to get my transport for that price but I know alot of ppl that got similar prices from Holland, not sure whether its because they make more trips more frequently between the UK and Holland. Appreciate what you are saying about the exchange rate tho. I will wait and see what the woman wants done (its her paying the bill after all). If she's prepared to pay it she must really like Dartmoor ponies, thats all I can say!
 
I have no idea of cost (but may be able to find out) but a friend sent her mare back to the UK from Finland a couple of weeks ago. she used John Parker International. The little mare is 16 and has had severe laminitis in the past. She got off the lorry like she had just travelled 30 miles down the road, she was in great condition and the men who were looking after her were just lovely. One had been with her all the way from Sweden. I was utterly impressed with them!
 
Another recommendation for John Parker. I used them to bring my youngster over from Holland, and they were absolutely fantastic. They do regular runs to and from mainland Europe. Well worth a phone call.
