as title i am after help with transporting a horse from the newmarket area to north shropshire/cheshire border within the next week. anything considered but not hugely expensive - happy for part loads etc. happy for you to pm me if needed - many thanks everyone :)

wanted to add, if anyone knows of any transport people they can recommend that would be a great help, i'm struggling to find anyone willing or able without costing several hundred pounds :(

Hiya i'm not entirely sure where Newmarket is, but in Shropshire there's a good transport service called Yew Tree Horse Transport. The ladys name is Veronica and her number is 01952 460607.

I've got no idea how much she charges i'm sorry, but she is very professional and her lorry is immaculate and very safe :) Good luck! xxx

thank you sophie, will give her a ring and find out costs etc, the hardest thing is finding someone reliable. newmarket is quite a distance around 2.5hrs by car. if can get transport arranged will be able to fetch friends new horse home :)

We used to do Malpas (not far from you then) to Newmarket in about 4 1/2 hours in a wagon, slower if a trailer; it is a good run, all motorway/dual carriageway til you get back onto the A41.
Try Ace Transport, based Eccleshall 01785 851848 (Kate) or Richard Francis on 01978 662240. Both excellent drivers with good small wagons who I always use.
You could also try Boothroydens who would have more chance of a shared load which would be cheaper.
Pricewise you're looking at at least £1 a mile, probably more.
Ring around, try all the big firms like BBA, LRT or Julie Magnus as you're ideally based for a shared load on their way to Ireland.

thanks Pat, very helpfull as always :) will give them a go and see if / what they can do it for, worst case scenario i will have to go fetch it myself in a trailer but had hoped we could get a one way trip organised.
