I maybe getting a Shire Horse 17.3hh shortly and was wondering about transport. He would be travelling from Cumbria to Cheshire. Could anyone recommend a good Horse Transporter Company. Also would i need to get a HGV or 7.5 ton wagon.

Can't help on the transporter front, but our shirexTB who's a similar height travels in a 7.5 - it just has to have very good headroom at least 7'6''

We have a large Bayhill trailer, similar dimensions to IW 510 with 7'6" headroom, always transported the Shires in it with no problems. Towing vehicle Mitsubishi L200.

My friend use to transport her shire in a ivor 510 trailer without the partition in, he traveled fine like this

Will Boulderstone transport shires and he breeds them. I use him for transporting my cobs and he's very good and patient. I'm sure he will be use to dealing with them with having his own. X

Might be worth posting in the North West board just in case there is anyone local that can help?

Also pop an ad on Preloved and Cheshire Horse.

Perhaps look on the Shire Horse Society website and see if there is any advice.

There also a couple of Shire breeders in Cheshire which might be able to help, Mathew King and Arclid Shires.
