I have just got a job up in Inverurie in Scotland, therefore need to get horse from Cumbria up to Inveruruie. How? People at yard I am going to have recommended Eric Gillie but they would pick her up and she would stop at their yard for the night, then go to Inverurie the next day, I am not keen on this at all. Anyone know of anyone who will take her straight up?

thankyou

i was going to recommend eric gillie as well, maybe he had to stop at his yard overnight because of the tacho laws and things. have you asked why your horse has to stay at his place overnight?

Eric Gillies are brilliant!!!!! I would not have any concerns in using them at all!! I bought my horse from a breeder in Linlithgow, north of Edinburgh and I live in Surrey! They brought him down for me in a big lorry with other horses (part load) and kept me informed all the time! Even phoning me on a Sunday morning as they had been delayed by bad weather in Scotland! As yours is a relatively short journey too, I would not hesitate to use them and in fact I recommend them to anyone wanting to move their horse any distance!

no I haven't the woman was very kind of brief on the phone. I ought to ring back, but I don't know really not keen on her stopping over night. hmm.

Try Gordon Hamilton. He moved two little ponies for me from Herefordshire to the Kyle of Lochalsh, he was fantastic. Mine did stay at his home overnight but a longer journey than yours I think so he might do it in one go?

Stopping overnight is not usually such a big problem. It gives them a chance to unload, stretch their legs, sleep, etc. Do you think your mare would be worse with the stop over?

We weren't happy about 2 overnight stops quoted from Gillies to take my daughters horse from North wales to Aberdeen, especially as the first stop was only 25 miles from us but they wouldn't be flexible.
Went with Enid from 'Blue Rose' transport, can't recommend her highly enough. We've used her for years to transport youngsters all around the country and they've all had a brilliant journey.
She's based at Heysham so not that far from your starting point.

PM'D you back :) x

and no i dont think she would be worse with the overnight stop i would just worry to much with someone else looking after her.

Eric Ghillie s are very experienced transporters. so i wouldnt worry on that score. overnight stops can be inevitable on shared loads due to transport hour/tacho restrictions.
