Hi, does anyone know how much it would roughly cost to transport a horse from the UK (Coventry precisely) to Belgium? Also, would it be worth to transport a horse over to Belgium for the summer (3 months) and then back or would it be better to put the horse on a holiday livery within the UK? Thanks!

I paid £500 to bring my two over from Belgium (well my company paid as they transferred me here ;)) That was a number of years ago however.

3 months is plenty of time to take a horse over and get it settled.

Phone around some of the big transporters as they have loads going back and forth all the time and will drop off in Belgium if on way to Germany for example.

I dont know about prices but can recomend Eric Gillies as a transporter as I wouldnt use anyone else to transport my horses. I know they do abroad transport and will give you a quote if you give them a phone.

I compete with a girl who brings her pony over from Belgium every couple of weeks to compete. She actually thinks it is cheaper for her to travel from Belgium than it is for me to travel within the UK as fuel in Belgium is much cheaper. Also there are some quite good offers available on ferry crossings.

Do you have your own transport or do you need to have a professional to do the transport for you?

Hi, thanks for replying! I don't have my own transport so would need a professional. I have just received a quote from ETA that they would transport a horse for 420 to belgium which I think sounds quite reasonable. However, I'm still thinking over it as I would obviously have to pay for the horse to be transported back so that would be around 840 pounds all together. GULP. I can;t imagine not seeing my horse for 3 months though :/

I just received a quote of 300 pounds from LOC ltd international horse transport- this seems quite cheap to me- has anyone used LOC before? Is it safe etc? Thanks!
