Hello all,

Does anyone have any experience of transporting horses by air? And if so, can you reccommend any good companies that could help me organise this?

I am possibly relocating overseas in a few months and would like to take my horses with me! (I am aware that it's going to be expensive)

Any help, advice or contacts would be much appreciated!

a friend of mine does international transportation, including transporting by air. will pm you details.
i collected a horse from NZ at the airport once, all the horses came off fine, no more upset than they would have been by a long lorry journey imho.

talk to Peden's they are pretty good although there are a couple of horse transport agencies that deal with it. and as kerilli said usually the horses travel just fine.

I've groomed for a horse that travelled with Pedens . I was with the horse from collection at the yard in Newmarket right the way thru to Florida ( 24hour flight , London , Amsterdam , Newfoundland , New York , then wagon to Florida ) . The owners paid for me to travel with the horse so I was with him ALL the time , from when we stood on the Tarmac lead rope in hand whilst a 747 rumbled up to us and parked , I loaded him onto the pallet( its a trailer type of box that hold s3 horses ) and this is loaded onto the aircraft . We had to be seated during take off and landing but apart from that I was with him all thru the flight , right thru to unloading at New York and onto a wagon . I fed him hay and the 5 sacks of carrots and the sloppy sugarbeet I'd brought all thru the flight . But I had chance to watch Pedens and they were brill . Tim and James Luck were the ones I travelled with , I spoke to Tim asking him what would happen if a horse panicked and he said " I would nt let it get to that stage " and he was right . He was really good with the horses and quick to calm anything before it happened ! It was quite frightening to see some of the other pallets that had horses in them . They were in bad state of repair and the people travelling with them didnt seem to bothered about their charges , But as soon as we had taken off myself and Pedens were up and down the ladder to go to the horses . Cargo planes are very boring noisy cold places but the horses travelled very well and I would recommend Pedens at the drop of a hat . I dont know how prices compare but get the best you can afford . Good Luck !

We also use Pedens for all our horses travelling to and from Dubai, they are very professional and know all the requirements.

Horses travel fine by air, I have been on flights with them and they just stand and eat their hay.
