You may have already done so but try asking in competition forum? Or get in touch with your vet, they may be able to help.x

Phone a dedicated transporter and have a chat, when I was enquiring about shipping to Canada the people at Pedens were incredibly helpful and informative.

Look in Horse and House transport section and speak to the transporters. It will cost £000s but I know someone who did it only about a year ago, but I don't know how much it cost.

I have had 2 friends transport horses 1 to canada - she came back 12 months later, and 1 friend took 2 out to spain - the 2 in spain, she lost one and the other had to come home - they never ever settled and could not cope with the heat.

Are you sure you know the climate you are asking your horse to move to? - will he/she be able to cope with the grass/heat etc out there? Only asking as i would hate you to spend a fortune moving out there and then finding out the climate is not suitable.

Please, please do your research before you move, its not like sending a competative animal abroad, whom are kept in air conditioned stables, and only there for a short time.

South Africa and places like that have some pretty evil flys as well and it may be worth fiding out as much about the negatives in the country you are moving too- can you try and google a vet practice and ask there opinion ?

yep, I looked into this a while ago, and it does cost about that, and a bit more for the quaratine, adds on more, as the price of quarantine was imcreased in August.

I am south of Perth and yes we did have a couple of 42degree days but its not humid and cools right down at night. I give the horses a hose down or they just siesta under a tree while its hot. I've had less bother with flies, horses will cope fine. Its hotter if you go inland or north but I would go for it - I regret not being able to have brought my horse from the UK.

I know someone imported a Gypsy Cob to Perth last year I think it cost about £12,500-£15,000 all in. All horses have to go to Sydney first as that is where the quarantine is then it will be a road trip from there to Perth taking a few more days. Horses cope surprisingly well in the heat and they adjust to the lifestyle there.

They will cope just fine!
You on the other hand will take some time to get used to our much more relaxed style of horse keeping!
No more stacks of rugs, no more stables for a big part of the time like in the UK (most are paddocked 24/7)
Different feeds, and in the Perth area, the spectre of sand colic being a serious management issue.

Let us know when your horse is travelling and we will wave as they go past! We are on the East West route, 150km West of halfway!

Oh, and Gingerwitch, one of the reasons it is exy to import to Aus is the very comprehensive quarenteen stay... Because we DON'T have many of the disease issues that the rest of the horse world does! There will be NO problems on that account!

I considered taking mine out with me when I went to work there for 18months, but as I was coming back the costs of transport were prohibitively expensive.

I don't know how my horse would have coped either tbh, as he can sweat standing still in the field in a UK summer! It could work though, but lots of new things to be wary of, I think ticks would be a problem too. IME of living in WA the flies were a total nightmare, so unless you are next to the coast with a sea breeze there will be plenty of them around!!

There is a thing called ross river virus spread by mossies that is around in WA, although I don't know whether that can be transmitted to horses or not

Although having said that, I helped a lady with her horses over there a few times, and all hers seemed very healthy. She was inland south of Perth and had a stud with welsh ponies (a-d) andalusians and a highland stallion.

Bear in mind though if you enjoy any competitive horse stuff in the UK, that is very different in australia, there's a reason why many of the top eventers etc live in europe
