Hi guys.

I'm taking on my aunts dressage horse as she is longer able to afford him. Aunt lives abroad though so I have to have him brought over to England. Does anybody knows the rules on moving / quarentine? Or does anybody know where I can find out the ins and outs of it all.

Any help is greatfully recieved.

Are you planning to do it yourself and where is the horse coming from? You will also need to know what transport/export documentation the country of origin needs as well.

Any professional transporter will tell you exactly what they need to move a horse.

I was going to get a transporter. I hear John Parker is very good so was going to contact them. My goodness this all sounds so confusing to me right now!

What country is the horse currently in? John Parkers are fantastic, they collected my boy from Holland and delivered him to me in Kent for less cost than the price of the ferry ticket for our truck! I will definitely use Parkers again when I go back for some more horses.

I'm pretty sure Parkers are the people who transported the horse of the girl I bought my horsebox from here in Spain.

If you are using a transporter they will do all the paperwork that they can for you. It is in their interests that it is all correct and in order and so they do as much as they can to make life easier for everyone. They will know exactly what they need and will tell you what to do.

I used John Parkers for mine. I brought her from Turkey to Scotland.

It will depend on where you're coming from with regards to health checks and quarantine. It will also depend on the breedof horse also. Depending on the country only "registered" hoses may be exported/imported.

We employed an export agent who took care of all the paperwork and headaches. Get you aunt to ask round for a good one. It will cost you but it's well worth it to save the hassle and to know things are done right. The last thing you want is to get to a Border Inspection Post and be turned back!

In my experience thetrasporter will not do your paperwork for you. They will advise as to what you need though.

I used IRT (http://www.irt.com/homeglobal.jsp?xcid=1) to ship my mare from Texas to Wales when we relocated back home. They were fantastic. They arranged transport from Texas all the way through to Wales (several lorry's as well as one plane) where she was quarantined. I recieved a full update on her well being and they sent regular photos. She arrived as cool as a cucumber and in great condition. They did all the paper work and cleared her through customs. I found their quote the most reasonable to. Would highly recomend.

Quarantine from USA to uk is 30 days

You need BBA Shipping or IRT both in newmarket. don't go to a transporter as they will put their 'commission' on top for being the 'third party' when you yourself can deal direct with BBA or IRT.

They will do everything for you costs vary from 3.5k-6k depending upon gender and testing and other variables-average cost is around 4.5k though
