Hello! Please help. My horse was very fresh out on a hack on Tuesday and decided to spook at a dog, leap in the air and buck a lot, which resulted in me ending up in a ditch (very muddy, soft landing!) after a little while I managed to catch my horse who was half way down the lane, eat grass. He had a few scuff marks (white) on his feet, but was fine. So I remounted and off we went home. Yesterday I didn't get him out of his stable, other than to muck out and groom, all seemed fine. Today I tacked him up in his stable, but he refused to walk through the door, until I coaxed him out with carrots and a bucket, and I realised to total horror that he was dragging his front leg, totally lame. So of course the vet was called instantly. Vet arrived, and after a brief prod and poke, and not much more diagnosed a trapped radial nerve, and gave me 16 sachets of bute and off he went with no other instruction, other than if its not improved by next Thursday get him back out. Help_ how do I manage this? Can he be turned out? Will he recover? How can the vet tell that its not something like a broken pedal bone etc? Thank you all
