Mac spends all day in the field, and only comes in overnight. I turn him out just after 7 in the morning, and he comes in any time between 5 and 7 in the evening.
Considering the length of time he is in, his beds are a real mess in the mornings. This morning it looks as though he has had half a dozen mates round.
Anyway, have been thinking about the state of his beds, and it has occured to me, that maybe, when he lays down, he is struggling a bit to get back up, hence the mess? He was diagnosed last year with arthritis is both hocks, and he has arthtritis and ringbone in one front leg. He seems fine in himself, not got any knocks or scratches that I can see. Is there any way to know, as I rarely see him getting up, as he hears the car in the morning so is up when get round to him.
He lived out 24/7 in the summer and I quite often saw him rolling in the field. He seemed to get up ok then, but obviously, if he is down for any length of time sleeping, he could stiffen up.
