Watching a friend struggling to do up her new travel boots on her chunky legged cob, I was wondering if there are boots made in different widths? A big boned cob is very different to a skinny legged TB. I've only ever seen boots in pony, cob and horse sizes, which is more of a length issue.

It tends to be a make thing more than size. Amigo and weatherbeeta cob size fit my chunky pony cob well. Woof wear, Bucas and GFS don't. As you say there is a limit to how much you can go up a size without the boots getting too long to fit well. I would hesitate to use anything that had to be tight on the legs to travel. If the boots don't fasten without a struggle for me personally I would replace them with another make or use bandages.

I'm pretty sure it was Weatherbeeta ones she was struggling with. I personally don't use boots anymore.

I saw the other day that NEW are now making wide brushing boots to cater for chunkier legs - not sure if they offer this size in anything else in their range but might be worth a look?

Premier Equine are the only ones I've found that actually wrap all the way round my boy's legs chunky legs. He's more of a hunter type than a cob so has full size but most makes won't go round.

Looks like the makers of travel boots are missing a trick here. - there must be lots of cob owners who struggle to get boots to fit so why not make a wide set?
