What do you put in your first aid kit for taking out on the road?
just wondering as mine is full of crap gathering dust that I’ve not used (thankfully, really) and packets looking a bit past it.

I take mini clippers, saline solution steripods, sterile swabs, Sedalin, vetrycin scissors.

Have bandages that would dual purpose.

have a deluxe St John’s human first aid kit lorry.

Also have towels / hoof pick / duct tape / baling twine.

All live in lorry.

Have similar but no clippers, have added various sizes of nappies, sharp blades, thermometer (not as std in travelling 1st aid but in case its needed at a camp etc), plus stethoscope. Distilled water and dedicated 1st aid lidded bucket.
Steri strips, superglue, human plasters, crepe bandages in sealed packets, ibuprofen and not forgetting emergency fags.....

brilliant. Didn’t think of “dual purpose” bandages as tbh I could do with a human/equine kit. I’ve got too much stuff from generic kits!

I always have bandages, gamgee( is it still called that), poultice, antiseptic spray.
Out hunting a few years ago, my horse was dancing about and put his foot down an open drain hole. He cut his leg on the broken metal covering. Adrenaline meant there wasn’t much bleeding until we got back to the trailer . There I was able to bandage him and went straight to the vets. They were impressed with how I had managed to stop the bleeding so well with my first aid bandages etc. Hopefully first and last time

sounds horrible :(
It’s something you hope you don’t need to use but so important you have it!
Someone I know had a particularly nasty stud injury away from home, freak accident if you will but it happens!
