Hi there,

Just wondered if anyone had worked with horses or hunted abroad and if so, how did you go about getting insurance. Ive just accepted a job grooming for a master in NZ. Ive had a quote from South Essex Insurance Brokers which came in at over £700 if i tell them im hunting and £400 if im only working with horses.

Any info or advice greatly appreciated

If you happen to have an Australian passport you are covered by a recirocal agreement between the Aus and NZ.

If not, when I went to Argentina to work with horses (unpaid work experience), I just got general travel insurance with a tick/statement to say I would be doing sport and it may include horses it cost around $300 AUD from STA Travel (don't know if the exist in the UK). The lady said that if anything happened I had to claim the riding was one off and I was using approved helmet (Aus standard) possibly working the system a bit. But if you are hunting you may want something more comprehensive.

If you are working and getting paid it may be differnet, but if you have a contract of any sort you should be covered by the NZ health system, but look it up I'm not certain.
