hi,
need to buy a travel rug and boots (although i have a cooler, is it ok to travel him in it?). Can anyone recommend a good brand that will offer good protection (he's got a long journey!) that doesnt cost the earth?!
Also, is a tail bandage sufficient or do i need one of those proper wrap things like woof wear make?
Is a poll guard necessary?
Anything else necessary lol!
Thanks

I have Mark Williams Travel boots and tail bandage ... they are smart, provide fab protection and are quite good value for money (even though they can be quite pricey) Anoither good make are Polypad leg wraps (these are a bit cheaper I think, not as smart but still provide good protection.) I don't know about travel rugs ... if it's a bit cold I normally travel my boy in his fleece cooler.

Hope this helps

Tail bandages are fine, they just take longer to put on/off!
I would say premier equine, they have fab travel/cooler rugs-but if you already have cooler then you can use that-their rugs are about £20 and really smart. They have lovely travelling boots as well for £30, although you could probably get cheaper ones on ebay.
Poll guard not necessary unless needed-ive never used one. Hope this helps!

I like the N.E.W Andrew Hoy travel boots - they're very tough and wash well.
Any cooler rug will be adequate, but beware over-rugging in hot weather as horseboxes can be warmer than you think when it's not Winter! Maybe a tail guard as well as/instead of a tail bandage - is it a VERY long journey?

I found Mark Todd Boots and Travel Rug to be fantastic, i wouldn't use anything else now

I love the Mark Todd boots. Helped a friend put Weatherbeetas on yesterday and they didn't feel as good (a bit soft). Never bother with a rug as she sweats up, unless it's the depths of winter.
