As in the title I have a 16.2 Irish Sports Horse Big Hunter Type.
Last year he all of a sudden on a 40 minute return home from a meet lost all balance. Ever since he has had a problems on corners and even going straight sometimes. He has never fallen over, or been in an accident or anything bad happen he just leans his full body weight on the partitions/wall and his feet scrabble across the trailer or lorry floor as he scrabbles to balance himself and intermittently kicks the box/trailer.
I have removed all partitions, tried both sides, window open then shut but to no avail. Then turned him backwards and that seemed to be a temporary fix, he has had a haynet, company, no company, no partitions with full length breech bars in the trailer.
I even brought a lorry for him and to no avail, I have taken partitions out the lorry, had company, put straw on the floor had the vet check his eyes and ears etc..
He is a hunter so has been turned away for four months thinking he might forget about it and kick back over summer and relax but we put him in the box/trailer and the same thing happened again last week.
What is confusing to me is, knowing my horse it is not fear or a "scare" that has created this problem. He has a "bee in his bonnet" about it which is him all over as he kicks the box as well as scrabbles and panics. He loves it when he arrives and lives for his Hunting, I don't even need to lead him up the ramp into the trailer/lorry he just walks in.
Many Thanks in advance to any suggestions or behavioral people who could help me?
