Three of them loose on the road as they had broken free from the waste ground they were chained up on. We were driving back from shopping and came upon them loose on the road. I herded them in to the nearest safe place with the car - the county police HQ sports pitches.

My partner wanted to phone the Police when we got home, but I said no. The ponies aren't going anywhere and it means the Police have to address the problem for a change!

What's to stop them getting out again if you herded them in so easily. Surely it wouldn't hurt to let the Police know where they are so that they can secure them:confused3:

Agreed. Also suppose someone witnessed you herding the ponies onto the sports pitches and thought you were in the act of dumping them there?? Just a call to report what you saw and did, then let the police deal with it as they see fit (or not).
Seems to be a sad but common occurrence these days; heard on the local news that the owner of a tethered cob that fell over a cliff and hanged itself has received a prison sentence, 8 months I think, :( poor pony.
