Travelling 2 yearling ponies

How would you travel 2 section A yearlings?

The journey would be about 45mins.

Our only transport is our Ifor Williams trailer (the larger style)

Do i travel them normally or do i remove the partitions and have lots of straw so they are loose or .......

They haven't travelled since they were shown as foals.

They are just so tiny!
 
I'm not sure about removing partitions etc - just don't do what we did the first time I travelled my Dartmoor (thank God this only happened the once).
Pulled out the yard about 500yrds up road at traffic lights huge commotion from trailer (rocking, banging) enough to make us go and look - Darling ponio had slipped her headcollar slipped under breast bar and squeeshed in with her brother on the other side! They were both wedged in tight, friend was panicking and was all for unloading them in the rd, until I pointed out what a bad Idea this was with traffic everywhere and no gaurentee pony would load again. Luckily it was only a 10min journey we were doing, we managed by pushing and pulling to un-wedge naughty pony, who came out looking quite proud of herself!

If you do travel them with partitions do as I now have on my 510 and put extra brackets lower down! I hasten to add all above happened in 505 so they were very squished!
 
take out the partition, lay plenty of straw and make sure you shut the back doors..

they'll be fine!!

The loose option was what i was thinking of as i wouldn't like the thought of them getting under the partitions, (if they got over think they will become showjumpers )
 
We used to travel our babies and youngsters loose in the trailer with lots of staw, making sure there was nothing they could get hooked on, or sratch themselves on (eye/nose) if they slipped and always removed headcollers etc.

Never had a any problems, or traveling issues there after.

Really depends on the size of the trailer and the size of breed, certainly with section A's or shetties there won't be a problems, loads of people do it.

We even did it without removing the divider as long as they can easily move around it.

Just make sure your jockey door is shuts correctly and bolts well in case they lean on it.

Its more like a stable enviroment and if they are used to being together anyway then they will be fine.
 
partition and breast bar out and lots of bedding, oh and no head collars and all doors shut, get them in and just drive

thats how we travelled our weanling sec B all the way from N Wales to Wiltshire last year, once he'd stopped yelling for his field mates he was quite chilled and amused the kids for miles by licking the little window at the front of the trailer

Travel them loose without partition (with the back doors shut). I travelled my yearling this way as he had not ever been tied up. The only trouble I had was the back doors were not shut and he travelled with his head over the door looking backwards! The poor people in cars behind us didn't know what to make of it!
