Here's a question for you all.... What do you travel your fully clipped horses in?
During the summer he just wore a full neck stable sheet, however not sure now its cold and he's clipped! Don't want him turning up cold or sweaty!! Was considering his thermatex under stable sheet but considering he's wearing at least a heavyweight atm surely he'd get cold?!?!?! Arghhhhhh

I went to a show today, fully clipped my horse on sat, he travelled in a med weight with a neck,, and was fine not to hot or cold. He is a good traveller.

I usually travel in fleeces. Mostly because they wick quite well if they do get a bit sweaty and plus i have lots and theyve not been worn in the stable so they are the cleanest!!:D
Travelled a clipped pony in3 fleeces today as we were only going 10 mins up the road. Yesterday we went and hour away so travelled in 2 fleeces and chucked another on her when we arrived.

Thermatex always my choice for a clipped horse I always take a second thermatex and a comfort zone with a hood and a fleece and a woolen day rug so I can layer if necessary . I do this because a friend a vet went to horse who was hypothermic after the lorry broke down it was stopped for hours in freezing conditions .The horse was unable to move its temperature dropped and dropped until it was in a dangerous state .
so I always travel covered for all temperatures.

If the the lorry or trailer is moving, then the horse is constantly making small movements adjusting their balance. This keeps them warm.

Good point about a horse standing on board for a long time. I'll put extra rugs in the trailer next time.

They always get hot travelling - so as rec Thermatex, or similar cooler - funnily enough, they tend to get less hot on the way home (no anticipation) so often add aanother rug then, if cchilly.

in winter/fully clipped i usually travel mine in her thermatex or thick MT fleece quite often both then take a stable rug with me to incase its cold and quite often a turn out aswell incase were hanging around out in the rain! better to be over prepared than under prepared - only you know your horse though - mine isnt a hot horse and is super to travel where as my mums horse although she is good to travel gets vey hot in the lorry so she travels in less
