Any tips?

When it comes to travelling Troy to where he will be living once he has been weaned from his Mum (he will be staying at stud for another month before we even think of moving him) he will be travelling on his own.

He has never been tied up before, and will be living out between now and then so will not be tied up before travelling. Chances are I will have my box by then, so would appreciate any advice on a foal's first journey alone. He has travelled twice with his Mum, and this time loaded on his own into the trailer which I was very proud of him for

Will your box have full partitions? If so, partition it so that he has a good square to himself and leave him loose. If not, then personally I'd use the trailer, with the partitions out and a breast bar only.

The partitions will be half padded and then rubber at the bottom... Once I have my box the trailer will no longer be with me unfortunately, neither will the vehicle that pulls it

Use the partitions as Sportznight suggests and leave him loose.
You will find he will tuck his bottom diagonally behind the drivers' side to balance and be fine.
I normally add a notice on the back of the box saying slow cornering due to foal in transit, that does actually make other driver's more patient with you creeping at snail's pace round roundabouts!
Do not tie him up..or you may end up with a very injured foal.

Loose with some straw, if its any distance he will probably lie down and have a rest.

Just be careful when you arrive that he doesnt try to push out past you, or if you stop at any point to check on him.

Im sure hell be fine, once hes in.
