Travelling a Shetland

When I bought mine we took the bar out as she was lower than it. Also when we travelled my mini foal she was left loose and took out central partition too.

Have you got a 4x4? Is it a workmanlike 4x4 or a chelsea tractor?

If it was a proper one, I'd pop her in the boot! :D

Just kidding.

Just travel her loose in the trailer, don't tie up, put bales around the edges just in case.

Depends how big the shetland is. I have never bothered with bales, loose or all that flumf but then I have big shetlands. I tie them normally - when you move off they have to stand still.

We seriously thought about doing this with 5 month old miniature that was smaller than a large dog but decided against it in case she panicked and hurt herself. We have a landrover 90. Saying that my rising two mini walked up a wooden plank onto a normal trailer last week that we were filling with soil!! She then stood on the trailer on top of the soil looking very proud of herself then calmly walked back down the plank.
