Hi all! I bought a pony 2 weeks ago and he doesn’t seem to be very good at travelling. When I collected him, he loaded but then had a bit of a panic when he was shut in, he was fine on the hour drive home but when I got him home, his tail was all rubbed. I have practiced loading and shutting him in and he was fine. Today, I took him 15mins to meet a friend for a hack. He loaded fine, had a bit of a panic when he was shut in then stood fine to travel. However, when I got to my friends, he had rubbed his tail & bum and had a red raw patch on his back above his tail. So it looks like he is sitting back on the breech bar. I think I will try without the partition, so he can find his own balance, but just wanted to know if anyone else has had and solved this issue?

I had a mare that did this and removing the partition solved the issue as she preferred to stand herringbone. Hope it works for you!
Thanks, I hope it does as I don’t want him distressed. One of my mares travels without the partition but her previous owner told me about this.
