Travelling a small pony in a horse trailer. I'm taking the partition out but she can walk under the breast bar so should I take that out too and travel her loose (making sure jockey door is secured shut) or tie her to the breast bar?

I'm a bit worried coz I'm not sure I can 100% secure the jockey door... Advice/ideas please?

if she cant lean on the breast bar may make it difficuly for her to brake as well, perhaps think about travelling her backwards instead that way she can use her back end instead.
have never tried loose travelling but i guess they are like sheep etc and should be ok so long as you;re careful on thecorners

Thanks guys - I'm going to see what I can do to the trailer. It's fine for my TBx - I wasn't planning on getting an 11.2 when I put the breast bar in

I may end up in casualty before I even get to the show!!!

If the pony can get under the breastbar, even at a push, then remove it. Far too many animals have injured their backs when getting 'stuck' underneath it.

If i have to travel my shetland in a trailer i put a bale of staw or two at the front and tie him up to a haynet that's low enough for him to munch on. This stops him from being able to get to the front and turn around.
