What is the best thing to protect a horses legs when travelling?

I have woof travelling boots and none of my horses like them, one won't even load when i put them on.

I need some protection as my horse kicks the side of the box when he goes along.

Would bandages be better?

Any advice greatly received.

Thanks

I have the Mark Todd boots which are great but similar to the Woof so you would probably have the same problem. My old boy would not wear travel boots, he would either plant or wave his legs around at angles they were not desinged to be at! I used bandages over shaped fybagee (cottage craft I think it was) or travel him in brushing boots, over reach all round (rubber ones with velcro behind) and knee and hock boots which provided him reasonable protection.

I use the polypad booits for all of mine. They are pretty cheap, and the front boots COVER the knee, as opposed to doing up over them. The main reason we chose to use these was of the 2 horses we know who have had minor incidents in a trailer/lorry, but have resulted in far more serious injuries were because they went down on their knees, the boots opened, and hey presto, no protection!

I really would recommend these. They are very thick. Weve had them years no, and have only faded VERY slightly. Never found a horse not to like them either

Hope this helps

Another vote for PolyPad. They seem to mould to the shape of the horse's legs as they are made from softer material than some of the other brands and as bexcy-bee said they cover the knees. :)
