my horse has been referred to newmarket, to go a week on monday. we live in west sussex, so is going to be 3 hour plus journey, depending on traffic. She is only going to have to be there for the day.
1. is 3 hours there and 3 hours back too far for a days travel? she is a good traveller.
2. will my trailer be ok, or would it be best to rent horsebox?
3. bandage or travel boots?
think that is all!
thanks

i think that's fine, i've travelled them for longer than that in a day and they've had to do hours of work at an event too! trailer's fine if she travels happily in one, but if she prefers a horsebox i would prob rent one, as i wouldn't want her risking hurting herself (more?) if she travels badly. i'd use travel boots unless she kicks a lot tbh, in which case bandages are more secure if properly applied.
best of luck, hope it's good news.

So long as she is fairly relaxed travelling I can't see a problem. We regularly travel 3-4 hours each way for events, doing return trip & competing same day. We use a trailer & tend to stop once on the way & offer water etc & let her (& me- the driver) have a break. With lots of hay she's quite happy & comes out ready to face the world & perform (!)
Main thing to consider is that the driver obviously has to be up to driving that amount in a day with the responsibility of such a precious cargo & keep their driving standards high, anticipating other motorists etc so as to avoid excessive breaking etc & giving comfy ride.
As for boots vs bandages, we have had several horses who seem to dislike feel of boots on their hind legs so tend to do boots in front & bandages & soft overreach boots behind. Works for us.
Good luck, drive slowly. I hope all goes well xx
