Hi guys. I was giving a friend and his daughter a lesson tonight. He picked me up, had his horse and daughters mare in the box. Indoor arena is about 3 mins from my place. Little bit of movement in the box, turned off up road to arena, all hell breaks loose in horsebox. I was geniunely scared opening the door of the box, as i thought for sure there was going to be a horse down in the box. Not bad driving, but a first for these two. I had to walk them the mile up the road to arena, as theres lots of potholes further up. They have travelled together loads of times before. He's alot bigger than her. We brought them home seperately, but we really got a fright. Do ye think it was a one off, maybe she had a little slip or something. It's a disaster for my friend, as he wont always be able to travel them seperately. Any thoughts??

If one slipped the other might have panicked, and we all know how much worse it sounds in a box. Try them together again on an unimportant journey and stay close to home in case you need to unload one.

Not much else you can do except put CCTV in so you know what they are up to.

Its late but a thought or two;) I would travel them alone once more just to make sure they are ok then plan a short journey together as tonights where if it does go wrong they can be walked if they really get upset. Possibly try swapping sides, the big horse should be in the right hand side of the trailer to be more stable but it could be worth trying the other way round.
A camera is useful so you can actually see what they are doing, they may have just have a bit of an argument which can sound horrific when you cannot see them.
