Hi, I am entered for dressage tomorrow but there is a weather warning for wind. I am wondering if I am just being a woss but it's 20mph wind and gusts over 40.

They haven't canceled I have been checking everyday. I'm on really early when it's a bit better but I'm thinking better safe then sorry. Am I being a woss, would you still go? Thanks

Often the weather warnings these days don’t turn into much. Personally I’d assess when you get up tomorrow, and if you have the slightest doubt don’t go.

Motorway/dual carriageways v well protected country lanes would also factor in for me.

Above 40mph gusts is a no from me.
Also worth considering, if there is a met office weather warning in place & you have a weather related incident ( tree falls on trailer/ trailer blown over etc) you may find your insurance won't cover you?
That's just a hunch from public liability insurance where an event I was helping organise had to be cancelled as insurance would not have covered us due to a weather warning.

It may well be cancelled anyway! Everything around us already has.

And no, I’d not tow in bad weather unless I had zero choice…I had to collect one of mine from the vet hospital just after it had snowed…I’d never normally do it but thankfully the roads were totally clear by the time I got there. Same for wind, if it’s gusty then definitely not x

Nothing is cancelled not even clinics where I am Exeter Devon region. What's why I was wondering if I'm being a woss. I can get there and not go on any dual carriage ways or motorways

For me it would depend on how far/what type of roads. I’d probably not go if motorways\major roads but on local roads your at less risk with the gusts as there’s more shelter from winds. 40mph gusts seem pretty normal these days.
It's about 45 mins away I usually pop down the motor way but there is ways to avoid it and go on more local roads but I've never driven them before. I have emailed and called to see if it's still running and have not heard anything back in two days. I may just give it a miss.

guessing you might be local(ish) to us… bridges are all closed so no way to get to the venue from the south yet they won’t cancel and nowhere we can divert to 😑

It's so rubbish! This is a local venue so no birdges with but I usually pop down the motor way although I can avoid that. But I don't want to risk it. I'm on early so can be home by about 11, I'll see what the weather says in the morning but I'm 99% not going.

2hrs 15 for us so not exactly local. Think we’re going to attempt to go but may end up withdrawing if it’s really bad in the morning

Yeah, I contacted the venue I was supposed to be competing at on sunday, hoping to reschedule ( it's alot of money to loose).
Their answer was nope, others still want to attend, a wind weather warning apparently is no reason to cancel 😡
I know the BD stance is up to individual venues to decide in yellow but cancel in amber +
