Hi All,

We are looking for some tips and tricks on how we can travel a mareish mare in a double horse trailer with another horse that she knows well (shares a field). She kicks out, bucks and squeals when loaded and sends the back bar flying. She even starts squealing and pawing before she gets anywhere near the other horse knowing that it’s about to happen. We’ve got a head partition in place and have tried various loading arrangements but nothing seems to help. Any ideas of what else we can try? I am thinking a 6.5T lorry or travelling separately is the only answer!

Thanks so much for all your help and expertise!

i think you need a lorry really, ideally with stallion partitions so she has her own space and can't invade the other/doesn't feel like her space is invaded. My marish one will travel OK with full height partitions in a lorry with another horse but would be tricky in a trailer where they could sniff noses etc. I would be very very wary of travelling a horse as reactive as this in company because if things go wrong when you're on the move then it's difficult to deal with.
