Basically we have a journey to make with two foals (both will be nearly 7 months, weaned but not overly handled) and one well handled 4 year old, it's a 7 hour journey approximately. We have a 3 horse lorry and can make it so that when we arrive the ramp can be made almost level and onto a soft surface to try minimise risks when unloading. What is the best way to travel though? The partitions are solid right to the floor and can be removed easily. Obviously the 4yr old needs his own section but should the foals be loose together, or in there own partitions?

I have travelled horses over long distances before so i'm not looking for advice on how to travel long distances just how to travel two foals and one horse. Failing that does anyone know any very reputable horse transporters?

Any advice is much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

4 yr old partitioned!! 2 babies together loose! my boy travelled to me in a trailer with his friend both loose, and were both flat out asleep when they arrived =/ haha!! :) just ensure theres nothing for them to stuck in! is the partition almost like a wall? no way for them to jump up to see their friend? no grills for legs to be caught??

good luck xx

I agree with others 4year old in own section and 2 foals together loose. Just make sure they cant get into 4 year old section. Give them pleny of bedding too.

Partition the 4yr old and if the foals are good mates then travel them loose in the remaining space. Put down masses of straw to protect them.

I travel my foals loose and they travel well.

If the foals are not mates then partition seperately but again heaps of straw helps them to travel well.
