Thinking of travelling my boy without partition. He is like a bottle of pop when we arrive and does not stand still when tied to trailer to tack up but will stand as quiet as a lamb in it. So no partition is really for me to have room to "do" him.

Do I cross tie him (he is used to this in the wash stall) or do I tie as normal???

I would cross tie him

Please cross tie him!
I tied mine up with just one rope, and even though it was short, she still managed to turn round and wedge herself into the trailer.

I have just started travelling my cob without the partition - he has now grown too wide for the trailer with it in (smallest Bateson).

He loves the extra room. I cross tied him but not so tightly that he could not move - just enough to stop him turning round.

When I arrived I undid both ropes and went to undo the back and he turned round - was peeping out at me and very easy to unload

On the return trip, I undid one rope and left the other over the bar so he thought he was still tied and didn't turn round.

I am going to buy the rear bar for my trailer though did travel my TB for years without a partition or rear bar but she was an older and very obedient horse.

My boy is so big I have to travel him without a partitition but I always cross tie him - in fact I have two leadrops permenantly attached so all I have to do is just clip them on when he goes in. I wouldn't like to deal with a horse jammed half turned.
