I think this is going to be the only option for my youngster and wondered how many people do this successfully?
I am looking at buying some full width breast bars do you suggest getting one for front and back or just one for front?

get front and back - the ramp isnt designed for horses leaning on it and the last thing you want is the clips giving way whilst travelling. I used to travel my horse successfully without partition - i now have single trailer though as i was concerned it was too wide and she moved alot and though she may fall so got single one instead

mine is abit of a funne boy as he will travel with a partition with something but travel him alone and he is all over the place so decided to take the partition away and get a breech and brest bar full with and what a diffrence he dosnt move stands more on a angle and spreds his legs ut is so happy plus when at showes am happy for hi to stand in there knowng he is not in a silly small partition plus he loves standing watching out of the trailer
hope this helps :)

My newly turned 4yo has always travelled in my Ifor Williams 510 since a baby with a single breat bar at the front and one at the back.

My front one is covered in foam so nice for him to lean on.

He is now rising 17.2hh and has never been comfy with a partition in, he travels lovely with the single and you never feel him move.

mine will only travel happily without a partition.... i use just a front breast bar - tried a back too and it made the trailer too short for her! but i checked with my insurance if they required a breaching bar too and they said no - best check if you do decide to only get a breast bar ;)

Mine both travel in the 510 without a partition- Millie because she travels much, much better without and Vinnie because he is 17.2hh and doesn't fit with a partition!

definitely get front and back breach bars though.

its not really insurance i would worry about with not having a breech bar - its the fact that trailer door held shut with 2 clips - if horse leans back on trailer door hard enough or kicks it and it falls down, out falls your horse more than likely.

I travelled Hattie alone without a partition to my last show in an Ifor 505 and she travelled ALOT better! We also discovered that she prefers to stand on the left side of the trailer too. Although I don't have my own trailer (yet), I bought a set of Ifor full length breast and breech bars from ebay so I have them handy whenever we travel.

I have travelled CJ with and without partitions - he travels ok anyway but he stood much better when he could choose where he wanted to stand where he felt most balanced
I do agree tho breast and breech bars are a must!!

Another vote here for travelling without a partition. Mine all load and travel far better without it. Just make sure horsey is cross tied. The front full width breast bar on my trailer (an old Bahill, which I love) we covered with the grey foam tube stuff you can buy in hardware shops to insulate taps and pipes with.
