Can I ask if you treat your pet bedding for fleas and if so, what do you use? In the past I’ve always used Indorex spray but now the bottle says you shouldn’t use it on pet bedding or anywhere that pets “frequently lie”, doh! I’m sure it didn’t used to say that but maybe I’ve gone mad.

I don’t think our cat has fleas but I do like to treat the household from time to time given that most fleas/eggs are in the carpets etc. I guess I could steam where she lies and what she lies on?

I used to use Indorex too, but then someone stood up and said it's harmful to bees, and your pet is rolling in the stuff, then going outside and brushing past plants. Not to mention people stroking the pet and getting covered too. Fleas do not lay eggs on the animal, they hop off and lay eggs under skirting boards, in the bedding, anywhere warm with a certain level of moisture. The eggs hatch when there is the right temperature and humidity plus a source of vibration, as that indicates the likelihood of a host. Can't imagine many would survive a good steam clean or hot wash!

I only use washable things (fleeces/pads) in a plastic bed nowadays. So it can be put on a hot wash. And I Hoover the settees. Seemed to work for us last summer when we had our first evidence of fleas in a decade.
