I'm pretty sure my horse has ringworm. A raised lump appeared on her neck 2/3 days ago and today the hair has fallen off it leaving a perfect scaley circle. Is there any way to treat this without a vet? Obviously I will call the vet if I need to but would appreciate any advice on any 'over the counter' stuff.

When my horse got it we washed everything stable, and horse in virkon E at the recommendation of the vet (make sure the dilution rates are adhered to though), it seemed to knock it on it's head and stop the spread.

Imaverol wash got rid of my horses ringworm in approx 12 days, I'm pretty sure its available without vets prescription. Also used Virkon to spray stable, rugs etc

Nizerol hairshampoo is great for anything fungal. You can buy it from a chemist.

Dilute in hand hot water and wash whole horse thoroughly. Leave for 10 mins, then scrape off excess and allow to dry. Repeat a few days later until no new areas appear.

Wash grooming kit and saddlery with it too. Wash rugs with Canestan In Wash rinse in the final rinse.
