I have now become the proud owner of an English leather saddle from over 15 years of synthetics. It's a 16.5" Ideal Apex in Havana, and although an older model, it is looking to be a good style for my Arab X, yey! The fitter (a different one this time) has taken it to adjust the flocking and slightly widen the tree, but its looking good!

Only thing is, although the leather is lovely and in really good condition, the Dee rings are a touch rusted in parts. Does anyone have any tips on how to spruce them up?

Not really apart from replace them, they are usually nickel or brass plated iron as it's cheaper. If they really bother you, try rust killer (from car accessory shops) but avoid any leather. If you opt for the cost of replacing them, make sure the saddler uses cast nickel or brass instead.
Rust killer is the cheapest option and they will just turn black instead of being rusty.

Hi, thanks for your replies. I've asked the saddler to replace them whilst it's in with them as they reckoned it would only be a couple of quid, sounds like they'll never get back to their former glory otherwise!

Love coming on here, so much experience to benefit from!
