Hello, first time poster and long time lurker here!

I need to treat my pony who has tested positive for tapeworm. I have Embotape on hand (never used it before), what are your experiences with it?

Thank you in advance!

Same as a double dose of Strongid P I believe, pyrantel embonate, which is what's needed for tapeworm with that drug. It should work fine.

Would I double dose with the Embotape? Or just the one dose? Back of box states it treats ascarids, redworm as well tapeworm. Probably should have mentioned earlier that she's just had a low result on a FEC, so no need to worm for anything but tapeworm. Should I stick with it or go for something that only targets redworm? I am probably overthinking this ?

There isn't anything that only targets tape on sale direct to horse owners, and that is one drug, so I think it's better than the others which are mixes of two drugs. Just dose as it says on the box.

Re dosage you do need to double dose for tapeworm. There's a few othets with the same active ingredient, Pyratape P and Strongid P are two others. I just get whichever is on special offer.

You need to double dose Strongid P if you are using it for tapeworm. The wormer the OP is asking about is specifically for tapeworm, going by the name, and she should worm at the dose that it says on the box.

The instructions for embotape are the same as the others, 1 tube for redworm etc, 2 for tapeworms based on a 600kg horse.

Need to know before buying to compare prices.

Here's a screenshot of dosage.

Hello, yes double dose of embotape will treat tapeworm but also other worms and you don’t need that. If you want to be super good with your sustainable worming then ask your vet for the praziquantel wormer manufactured by Bova. That will treat only tapeworm and be the correct product. ?

If you have a larger horse and intend to double dose for tapeworm with Strongid P or Embotape, watch out for the weight limit of 600kg per single dose, compared to 700kg for many other wormers. I have to use 2.5 syringes for the IDx, which does not hugely please her - what, another one, you can hear her sigh.

Whereas with a tb I was quite annoyed when some upped to 700kg and I now have to pay extra to bin a quarter of the tube.
