Anyone going/competing?

I've just looked on their website: and apparently the competition is now full and there's a waiting list!!! :O

We competed last year but as I don't have my own transport its always difficult to go to things....... so we thought we would give it a rest this year anyway.

The fact that its full shows just how popular TREC has become. Good on them!

I really want to have a go at trec. But would need to do it as a pair with somebody, because I would be aweful at navigating in the first stage! A friend used to do it but the pony she did it on is off work at the moment. They used to do one at Brynstone school near blandford which is slightly closer to me. Would quite like to do some sort of trec training or clinic.

Mmmm, have a look at the TREC SW website if you're looking to do some training; think they've got a map reading day up in Haldon Forest coming up soon - can't remember date, but it does sound fun! You don't need to bring horse either.

Yes agree its a good idea to do it as a pair; the first time I did it TBH I didn't have a clue what it was all about - and the only criticism I have is that perhaps it could have been made a bit clearer. At the day I was at, there seemed to be quite a lot of ambiguity about the "immobility" challenge. I know I lost marks on this simply because I didn't understand what was required.

But good fun nonetheless.

My mother was going but has had to pull out as now too busy.
Her pony is great at Trec and gives them both something to work for.
I believe there is another one in March?

Coombe park is near Totnes.
It's the mare and foal Sanctuary centre.

there's also a practise POR so you can make a day of it :)

You could try putting a plea out on the Trec South West facebook page for a lift. Not sure how successful it would be but may be worth a try.

2(?) winters ago I spent the winter riding for someone and we always attended the Trec group shows, they had showing and then either jumping or Indoor Trec. It was great fun! I won points champion on the pony, she was really good at it aha and helped me out on my first time. I really want to have ago out the normal Trec, but I don't think my ex racer would be very good at it aha o.o
I'll probably end up riding something else as I'm sure CTG have one in the summer to look forward to!
