Tredstep vs Ariat sizing

As nowhere sells Tredstep boots locally to me, I am trying to order online. I have Ariat cobalt boots in a size 6.5 and can fit a thick sock in, I had ariat close contact chaps in size S but had to give them to my sister as they were a bit baggy! Tried on Ariat Bromont in a size 6 Regular and foot size was good, calf size was too easy to zip up given the fact they would stretch a little (what happened with the chaps). Ariat close contact XSM fitted ok, were difficult to zip up but think they'd be perfect after they stretched but the shop didn't have them in black. Changed my mind on chaps so was browsing online and love the Tredstep Raphael as I was torn between laces or no laces, and they seem to be a nicely shaped no laces boot :) I was going to go with size 6.5 Slim but wondered how the sizing runs , compared to Ariats if possible.

I need to go to a slim calf with ariat. I can wear a reg/tall Treadstep and the slim/tall is my summer show boot, bit snugger but still ok. I can't do a reg calf with ariat, baggy as all get out. Defineity need a slim! I've only tried on the ariat. I wanted a dress boot and I liked the fit and the softness of the treadsteps. May not last as long as leather you have to really break in, but ariat boots really don't seem to last very long anymore either.

Oh, and I'm a U.S. ladies 9 in each. Ariat seem a touch bigger, but just a touch.
 
Thanks for the reply, measured my calf at 34cm with socks and breeches and figured out the size 6 slim would be too slim, but a 6.5 slim would be just right as it is 35cm - hopefully! Will see when they arrive but fingers crossed they fit :) sounds like we have similar a similar width so if you fit the slim that's good, I prefer a second skin type fit once they've broken in !
 
I have both Tredstep Donatello and Ariat heritage field boots and the ariat deffinatly fit a bit looser - but i'd say the measurements that they are advertised with are pretty correct. I also found the ariats stretched a lot more than the Tredsteps
