Hi Guys, I have just bought a 2nd hand Barefoot Cheyenne saddle but need some help in making sure it fits correctly. Are there are any saddle fitters that cover bedfordhsire that I could get to come and have a look or can some one on here offer me some help? In principal I think the sadle fits ok but when i sit on it the front sinks right down onto his withers which I am sure cannot be right! I have a proper equitex pad underneath which I ordered specifically and has lots of padding for extra spinal clearance but I cannot seem to lift it off his withers. Help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!

it sounds like the insert pommel needs changing - open the front zip up, and you may find a soft pommel. You probably need to ask barefoot which hard pommel you need to swap to.

Hi Shysmum, I have already checked the pommel and it is a fibre glass one but not sure which size. I initially though it was a medium and thought about changing to the wide one as on my other saddle he had an xw gullet (thorowgood) due to him having really big shoulders but now i am not sure. I did think about calling the barefoot guys at horse and harmony so will do this thanks!

Thanks for your commenst so far guys! I Just looked on the horse and harmony website and assuming the saddle I bought still has the original pomel insert in it then it will be a standard pomel (the person I bought the saddle from was a saddle dealer and did not know which pomel it had). So my question is does the gullet width in treed saddles match that of a pomel size in a treeless saddle? Ie my thorowgood t6 had a wide / xwide gullet so would the pomel required for the treelss not be the wide or xwide or is the opposite ie meaning he would need a narrow pomel insert? Mindfield or what!!!!!!!
