Hi, I have an exmoor pony who is 12.1hh and obviously has a relatively flat back. I dont think any treed saddle is going to fit her as she is larger than xxxw.
Don't know loads about treeless saddles but have been browsing around and seeing what is availiable.
I need a saddle which I can jump small jumps in and wont look out of place in a show ring. Also, have a limited budget of up to £300.
Can anyone help me?

Mmmm, whilst noting limited budget, you couldn't do better than try www.thepainfreehorse.co.uk

Their saddles WILL fit flat-backed ponies of all shapes and sizes and they will spent a lot of time and trouble getting a good fit for you.

The problem you will have if you go treeless is that there is a very real danger of it slipping which could be extremely dangerous, especially if a little person is on board.

I personally feel that you would be better to go with something treed if you can possibly do so.

That link goes through to a company who are NOT authorised sellers and fitters of the Native Pony Saddle Company saddles. Only www.nativeponysaddles.com are the makers and authorised fitters.

And yes, our trees would work for an Exmoor - a Fen SH or a M&M GP (neat enough for workers) may well work, and can sometimes be found used. £300 might not be enough, depending on condition. The new Sienna is solving some Exmoor fitting "problems" as well, but none used out there although the NP Pony Club is similar and might work.

You could always try having a saddle made to measure. My haflinger is very flat backed & I had him one made & it was xxxxxw (yes that is correct 5 x's)

The saddle is for me (5ft6 size 8 20 year old) and only want some thing that price as Lola will be sold next year so no point splashing out on a expensive saddle.
