I am looking to get my Friesian a new saddle this year & was looking at the treeless saddles, but want a VSD/WH type as he has a huge shoulder, needs to be leather for showing and dressage.
Do you use a treeless saddle? What make? & did you notice a difference in comfort for you & performance in your horse?
Thank You

I have used treeless and love them. My horse found it very comfortable as did I. Also she seemed to move much more freely under it. They come in some many different styles, some do not suit high withered horses but some are ok for higher withers, though I think sometimes they just will not fit a very high withered horse.

Anyhow, if my vet gives me the all clear on my mares health check this week then I may be asking OH to buy me one for my birthday

You have to try them out as not everyone likes them but I loved my first one, wish I would have kept it

i did have - i had a heather moffett sbs but i found it too wide and i found it made me sit too down on her back - i now in a barry swain heather moffett treed saddle and is better for my position and her back. but thats just me - she does make lovely treeless saddles but they dont suit everyone

Happy to answer any questions re Solution saddles if you would like to pm me

There are loads of posts on HHO re treeless - if you do a search you might find some stuff of interest to you. You'll get widely differing opinions, so really it's down to what you like and what suits your horse and yourself.

I have a Heather Moffett Fhoenix Vogue. It has more twist than the SB, so doesn't feel so wide and tends to make people feel a bit better about being treeless. Very comfy.
I also have a Sensation and Freeform, but they aren't showing saddles.

Can you remember which make it was?

It was'nt a mainstream, I got it about 4yrs ago. It was £400 including postage and I think the make was 'something' Ranger, sorry only remember the ranger bit, might have even been Rancher!

Some societies do not allow treeless saddles when the judge has to ride - BSPA are one if you are doing more than local, check out the rules.

I have a Barefoot London and did do some local shows in it when I started Stinky out. However, as soon as I started to do affiliated I went for a treed WH.

If you do want treeless, the Phoenix is used by some for showing.

Avoid the cheapies and make sure you get the correct pad.

If you want to go treed, Flyde saddles are very good to fit and adjust, though not the cheapest to buy.

I love my treeless for hacking and schooling but would not now use it for higher level showing.

I have one, it's the best make and the original make, but not a traditional looking saddle, which is what you are after. I have a Torsion, and it is brilliant, so comfortable for horse and rider, and makes me feel ultra safe when onboard.

I have a GP Total Saddle Solution.
I love it, so comfortable and traditional looking, their dressage saddles are really nice.
I used to have a Heather Moffett SBS, although it was a really nice saddle, I prefer my current saddle.
