treeless saddles

Need some advice on treeless saddles for a friend .She is having a saddle made for her new horse who has had bad treatment he is coming on really well but wont be able to have saddle fitting until she can ride him properly.I thought a treeless saddle would give her a chance to get onboard before her saddle is ready.Having had no experience of treeless how do you go about a fitting or can you just buy second hand ie ebay .Obviously she doesnt want to damage his back and her wintecs are far to narrow he is a very broad friesan /cob.Any advice appreciated thanks
