Hi

Any recommendations of places to buy them from please in the UK (be it from the web or straight from the shop).

I know the Torsion saddles are very good (I had one on demo many years ago for my other cob) but there out of my friends price range.

Are there any decent ones for under say around £300 or less or any does anybody know anyone that perhaps sells second hand ones? (I know a lot of people buy them then don't quite get on with them) so I imagine there are quite a few used ones kicking about.

It is only hopefully only going to be used during winter while her other saddle is out of use.

For a 14.1 short backed, cob. Rider is say a size 12 (I know there measured differently to a traditional English tree saddle).

Any info will be appreciated and passed on.

I have the Barefoot London - I am a size 12 - 14 so went for the size 1, it fits me fine and gives me incentative not to go up a dress size.

I bought mine from http://horseandharmony.co.uk/shop and bought the "package" as it is essential that you have the right pad for the saddle.

I also spoke to them and they were very helpful and said if it was not what I wanted, I could return it. They do a package of saddle, pad, dressage leathers and girth - all you need are the stirrups for £631.

The great thing I found with the Barefoot is that it is a well made saddle but not too expensive. I have used in on my traditional cob since he was 3 and he has changed shape so much in the past 18 months. I also used it on Cairo our old clydesdale and on Farra our new one. All of them like the saddle, go well in it. I do have a posh show saddle now, but the Barefoot is my everyday hacking and schooling saddle.

My male instructor finds it a bit small, but he said if he was going out for a walk hack, it would be the one he would choose as it is so comfortable, but for schooling, he finds his b*lls get the odd bash on the rather high front.

Thanks Thereza_F for taking the time to explain your experiences on the treeless saddles, I will copy and paste the info on a email for her, so she can have read for herself and look into them, just so happens someone has kindly let me know about the exact saddle that they have for sale (not off this forum) and I'm hoping she will look into it and buy it.

Treefree saddles are expensive but you might just get a second hand one within budget, if you cant find one bite the sellers hand off cos they are beautifully made in the UK and both my 14.2 and 17 hander love it.
 
Hii there,

I have the Barefoot Cheyenne and Cherokee - both a bit cheaper than the London I think. I love them both, and Horse and Harmony have always had great service whenever I have contacted them.
