Thinking of doing trekking classes this season , I was just wondering what exactly it involves and what you would need to wear/in your bag. ? Any tips and tricks much appreciated ;)

a tough cob type, waterproof clothes, a head collar worn on said pony-grub in rucksack or equivalent bag and a drink- i trekked for years as a kid in Wales and managed to always ride my favourite pony every time.

I don't mean to sound thick, but what is a trekking class? Is it one of those things where they teach you to ride as you go along out of a ride, or is it something totally different?

trekkingis riding over hills and dales at a slow pace- ideal for folk who are not proficient at riding but like a riding holiday- so the classes are based on the type of pony and turn out for all weathers.

Oh ok. I knew about the trekking bit, but not about the class bit;)

In which case, I second the waterproofs recommendation, and would add to that the purchase of a seatsaver:D

Also you will need boots that support your ankles. Walking boots aren't ideal, but IME many trekking places will have safety stirrups so you may get away with it. Trainers are not ideal because of the lack of ankle support. Some places may even have spare sets they can lend you, worth asking I think.
