does anyone know of a good place for a short hack/trek, i am going walking in a couple of weeks and thought of booking a trek in as well for a change!

I live in the Lake District. There are a couple of places for trekking, but don't think there are any around Windermere. It is extremely busy around there at this time of year.

Try Cumbrian Heavy Horses, they do treks, hour, 1 day, 2 day etc. They use Clydesdales. They are based on the west coast but they also trek around Coniston, which, imho is nicer than Windermere. There is also Bigland Hall Equestrian Centre, if you don't want Clydesdales. They have day and three day trips. As well as hourly and three hour rides. They are based between Ulverston and Newby Bridge, not far from Windermere. There are others as well, I would book asap, they get very busy, especially the heavy horses.

PM me if you need any more info.
