Hi, my daughters are on hols in Fishguard this week and are desperate to go pony trekking. All can ride, but are novices. Can anyone recommend somewhere nearby they could go? Many thanks in advance!
The only place I know of is nolton stables near Newgale. I've only been there once but it seemed quite nice as far as trekking places go. There was a huge choice of horses, something to suit everyone from 10hh ponies to 18hh shires. I was with my OH so only in the walk/trot group and I asked for something that wouldn't be too boring for me so they asked if I'd like to take a youngster that was normally used by the guides, he was a real sweetie but a bit spooky, it made it a bit more interesting!
There's also the Dyfed Riding Centre at Bridell, near Cardigan. They do trekking and lessons. Used to go there for lessons and they are very good.
Can google them for contact number
Nolton stables is very good, oneofmy very goods friends works there. They can ride on the beach or through the woods, etc, they cater for everyone. PM me if you like!
Nolton Stables are a superbly run trekking centre. They do woodland rides, beach rides or rides with jumps set up through the woods. I was terrified on my first ever beach ride there because in my mind horses + beach = mad gallops. But John Owen (owner) asked who wanted to just walk, who wanted to trot and who wanted to canter. Hah thinks I. Doesn't matter which group you go in because once one goes the whole lot will. Imagine my astonishment when the walking group walked, the trotters trotted and the canterers cantered. Safest most wonderful ride. Would recommend it to anyone. If you go say Hi from the lady who bought Sullivan off him x
