I had a Treliver Decanter colt last year, really like him so mare will be going back to him this year. I will try and post a pic of them for you. Temperament wise my boy is so easy going and friendly. You can see some older stock of his on the Treliver Stud facebook page.

I met him in the flesh a few years back as my friend used to work on the stud when they were in wales. He is lovely from what I remember. I met his mum and I think it was his full sister aswell.

I've heard that dimaggio youngstock can be quite sharp but have never heard this about TD. He is a lovely horse, beautifully put together and movement to die for. I would certainly use him but don't have a mare to suit :(

I have a filly by Decanter. We are very very pleased with her. She has been an absolute angel! She is switched on and quick to learn but has been so easy. She is my first foal and I think I have been spoilt. She also moves like a dream and has such a nice attitude that anyone can handle her. If I had more time I would definitely have another Decanter baby.

This is our Treliver Decanter foal - WSH Carafe. (He is Welsh Part bred out of a 50/50 Welsh x tb mare )

Pictured as a foal, just before weaning and then today. Has wintered out other than a few days in here and there for worming etc and done really well. Rug off today and we are really pleased with him. He's not one till May and has grown really nicely and evenly.

He has a kind temperament, easy to handle and accepting.

Treliver Decanter has excellent quality semen and if your looking to to go down the AI route in particular I can recommend him thoroughly. We have another in foal to him this year.

I like him and he has a nice temperament. If I was to fault him as a sire it is that he does not stamp his stock, as in you cannot look at them and know instantly who they are by, they all take a lot after their dams.

 this couldnt be further from my opinion!!
Infact, I saw a grey mare at dressage training who looked like she might have been buckskin before going grey (ok, so slight clue:rolleyes:) and I thought she looked like a Decanter baby so I asked who she was by and sure enough they had no idea who she was out of but by Decanter! (Iv been waiting for an excuse to show off my big achievement for months!! hahaha! ;)) Im not sure if it counts as 'stamping his stock' but I think for one they all have the same head/expression as him!

I suppose there are two considerations that it might be a little early to make judge him when his first babies are only just coming out under saddle so there isnt too much to go by and also personally I dont see the point going to the trouble of picking a mare to go with a stallion if one or the other overules what comes out at the end. :)

Well I had a quick laugh when I read that because not two minutes before I had received this e-mail from a mare owner who has a 5 year old Decanter called Mali
"I was competing against Derek at the end of 2011 at Bromyard - it was the first time I'd seen him in the flesh since you left Wales, he looked fab! Interestingly, as soon as he came into the arena, my owner that was with me (who knew Mali's dad was going to be there, but knew nothing more about him) saw him and instantly recognised him as being Mali's dad as there are obvious similarities even though Mali is chestnut"

I seem to have messed up with my pictures in my last post but I'll try again.

This is WSH Carafe - Welsh Sport Horse. He is out of a Tb x Welsh mare but I can see still see Decanter in him. Even though his grand dam was fairly light of bone for a Sec D, this chap has excellent bone and we are really pleased with him. He will make an excellent horse for someone.

I have Treliver Decanter's older half sister (she will be 16 next week) out of the same mare. She has a fabulous temperament and is so easy and sweet. Apparently their dam was the same. They also have very similar facial expressions which is also from their dam of whom I have some photos with my mare at a few days old.

Just out of interest what level is he successful at? I missed him at the stallion parade at Addington and I believe he jumped and did dressage.

He seems a very popular sire on here so interested in his performance successes.

Thanks in advance
