I've only used it a bit on my youngster to stop him biting people, stamping his feet, respect my space leading and backing up etc... Definitely read up on it, there are a couple of good kindle books on it and a lot of videos on you tube, one person has charted their work with their youngster for 3 odd years. I found it helpful to read up then watch vids on each thing I wanted to work on. I don't use it for everything, mainly on things he got frustrated about, it really teaches them to try and exercise self control x
It's fun and you and your horse will love it I did some clicker training with my mare when she was on box rest 3 years ago and she still knows the tricks. I point to a leg and she will wave it in the air, if I say "say no" she shakes her head and if I throw a small tea towel she will catch it in her mouth. She really enjoys it and I treat with a couple of high fibre nuts.
Aww lofty how did you train her? My 18. Year old tb who is a bit quirky and can be headshy is currently on box rest, he's retired but thought it might be fun for him 2 have a job!
I don't clicker train but have taught my pony Spanish walk, bow, podium stuff based on the book 100games your horse will want to play (or something similar) and dvds from that authors sister (had to order them from her direct in Switzerland). I also have jean francois pignons book and have had lessons with a trick rider. Makes a nice reward to mix in with dressage, Trec, hacking and jumping, he loves it! Loves plaguing football with his big gym ball too!
