Trickle nets - any good?

I have one.

I used it with great effect on BF (RIP).
However - I put half a section of hay into a std small holed net, so fatty-piggy could stuff immediately, then found she slowed right down to tackle the trickle net which was tied to the same ring
If I didnt put in the small holed net, she would get really angry with the t/net & grab/snatch it & bang about.

FLF has the knack with the t/net - I give her some hay loose on the floor & leave the t/net hanging overnight & she also doesn't beat it up - but did so till I added the loose.
For mine, its been the getting over the immediate stuffing of face when food/hay comes along :)

Yep, I've tried all that too but mine aways wanted to empty the trickle net first (don't ask me why - the only thing I can come up with is he has to eat the tricky stuff first so if another horse breaks into his stable overnight he'll be able to quickly swallow what's left on the floor and won't have to share )

Oh, ive watched these theads and these nets look really interesting, has anyone used one tied inside a haybar? PM me if anyone wants to re-home there old ones.

Have not read all the posts. I would advise against buying one. I have a clever tb who worked it our in seconds- I actually put up a 'normal' net and trickle net when I first bought it as I'd read stories about horses not figuring them out straight away - not her, she chose to eat from the trickle net - getting huge mouthfuls, enough to leave a pile on the floor! I even videoed it on my phone as couldn't quite believe what I was seeing.
In my opinion double netting worked better at slowing her down.
I had hoped it would last longer ( being thick) but it soon got holes in it. Still using it but it has massive holes! I've tried tying them up but doesn't last. Probably lasted longer than I normal Haynet but I should hope so at the price!
Save your money!
